What do I need to make a video?

What happens to the photo I upload?
It is used for the render and then swept — it is not kept indefinitely and it is not shared. If you come back later to run the same photo through a second scene, you may be asked for it again, which is the visible side of that sweep.
What makes a good source photo?
Even light, a face that is not cropped or turned away, and one person in frame. Sunglasses, heavy shadow across the face, motion blur and group shots are the four things that most often produce a result nobody wants.
Can I use a video as the starting point?
No — the starting point is a still. A clip cannot be used as a first frame, and the site will say so rather than charge for a run that cannot work.

The other draws a picture from a written description, so somebody with nothing to upload still has a starting point — and that picture can then go into any scene the first half offers.

Both run on the same account and the same credits. Neither needs a camera, an editor, or any skill with one.

Upload one clear picture. Pick a scene — the catalogue is ranked by use, so the first row is what most people choose. Press generate and wait about two minutes; the result lands in your collection, where you can download it, run it again, or send the same photo through a different scene without uploading it twice.

Text to picture, for when there is no photo

Describe the person and the setting in a sentence and the site draws it in seconds. This is the door for anybody who does not have a photograph to hand, and it is also the faster way to try the site out: a picture costs less than a video and comes back immediately.

The catalogue

Every scene is a template somebody has already run — often tens of thousands of times — and the count on each card is the real one. New scenes are added weekly and appear in the same grid rather than behind a separate paywall. Filters narrow the shelf by what happens in the scene, and a search box finds one by name.

Quality, length and formats

Scenes render at five seconds by default and many run to ten. Output is portrait, sized for a phone, and downloads as an ordinary video file with no watermark on a paid plan. Higher quality tiers render with more detail and get priority in the queue when the site is busy.

The first generation is free and asks for no card. After that, runs cost credits: a picture costs a few, a video costs more, and the exact figure is printed on the button before you press it — nothing is ever charged at a price you were not shown.
